Yellow Flowering Modern Roses

The yellow rose is the unofficial flower of Texas for good reason. Their bright cheerful flowers add a warm excitement to the garden, indoor flower arrangement or container. These favorite modern roses all have flowers in shades of yellow.

Yellow Flowering Hybrid Tea Roses:

  • Henry Fonda Hybrid Tea Rose – A deep yellow rose with a long lasting bloom season, these flowers are a true, dark yellow that glows. Hybridized in 1995, this yellow rose has a mild fragrance, but a huge impact in the garden.
  • Grandpa Dickson Hybrid Tea – Also known as ‘Irish Gold’. This rose is older and was hybridized in 1966 but the pale, creamy yellow blossoms keep gardeners interested. The Irish Gold rose won several awards in the 60s and 70s.

Yellow Blooming Floribunda Roses:

  • Courvoisier Floribunda Rose – This deep-yellow rose has more pale colored outer petals as the bloom matures, creating a unique two-toned effect that is stunning. ‘Courvoisier’ also has a strong fragrance and large blossoms making it a popular choice for easy-to-grow, yellow roses.
  • Sunflare Floribunda Rose – Also spelled ‘Sun Flare’. This medium yellow rose blooms for many weeks, especially with regular deadheading. The ‘Sun Flare’ floribunda rose won the AARS award in 1983, has a strong fragrance and makes a good tree standard, hedge or low-growing shrub rose.

Miniature Roses with Yellow Flowers:

  • Double Treat Miniature Rose – This yellow blend rose blooms with red and yellow striped flowers that will brighten up the garden. Bred in 1986, ‘Double Treat’ only has a light fragrance, but the small size makes it a good container selection or a great choice for edging a garden pathway.
  • Sun Sprinkles Miniature Rose – An AARS winner in 2001, this unique miniature rose has medium-dark yellow flowers that fade to pink or white toned blossoms as the blooms fade. Season long flowers make a ‘Sun Sprinkles’ a great addition to a yellow garden design.

Yellow Flowering Grandiflora Roses:

  • Gold Medal Grandiflora Rose – The ‘Gold Medal’ was introduced in 1959 and has remained a popular choice for yellow rose gardens ever since. The spicy fragrance, and the attractive medium yellow blooms, make ‘Gold Medal’ a good choice in a yellow garden.
  • Oranges and Lemons Grandiflora Rose – The ‘Oranges and Lemons’ rose is very unusual because the flowers are yellow with orange stripes running through them. Gardeners should allow this colorful rose plenty of room in the garden since the canes grow very long – try growing them in the back of the border.

Designing a yellow themed garden is a fun and easy way to give your garden a set direction, lots of warmth and bright color. These roses are a great place to start when creating a yellow flower garden.
