The Flowers of the Astrological Zodiac

Each of the astrological signs has flowers that go with them. Using these specific flowers to honor a loved one, new baby or other special person could be another great way to create a personalized memory garden planting.

Aquarius Horoscope Flower: Daffodil

Aquarius is the Water-Bearer sun sign and is associated with people who are born January 21 through February 19th. Daffodils are one of the most popular spring-flowering bulbs, usually blooming in bright yellow but sometimes white, orange or pink flowers are seen as well.

Pisces Horoscope Flower: Freesia

The Pisces sun sign is the Fish sign and is for people who are born February 20th through March 20th. Meanwhile, the flower for Pisces is the freesia, a freely blooming tender perennial that looks great gently trailing over the sides of hanging baskets and containers.

Aries Horoscope Flower: Tulip

The Aries or Ram sun sign includes anyone born March 21st through April 20th, and marks the beginning of the spring equinox. The tulip is a late spring blooming bulb with exuberant, bright colored blooms that command attention in the spring landscape.

Taurus Horoscope Flower: Iris

The Taurus, or Bull sun sign is given to those born April 21st through May 21st. Known for determination it is appropriate that the hardy garden Iris is the flower associated with Taurus, as most iris will survive and multiply for many years, even decades.

Gemini Horoscope Flower: Alstroemeria

Gemini or “The Twins” sun sign is from May 22nd through June 21st. The flower associated with this zodiac sign is the Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas and is a medium perennial plant with highly attractive, trumpet shaped blooms.

Cancer Horoscope Flower: Rose

Cancer, or the Crab, is the sun sign from June 22nd through July 22nd. The flower paired with Cancer is the ever-popular rose, sometimes called the queen of the garden, an ornamental flowering shrub available in many shapes and sizes.

Leo Horoscope Flower: Carnation

Leo, the Lion, is the July 23rd through August 22nd sun sign and is associated with the carnation flower. Carnations are one of the most popular florist blooms but hardy, garden varieties are also seen in many landscapes.

Virgo Horoscope Flower: Gladiolus

Virgo, the Virgin, is the sun sign for those born August 23rd through September 23rd. The gladiolus is a tall, stately flower that is often used for vertical accent in the garden, or in cut flower arrangements.

Libra Horoscope Flower: Dahlia

Libra is represented by the Scales and serves as the zodiac sign for those born from September 24th through October 23rd. Dahlias are somewhat high-maintenance plants and can require more work than some other plants to keep happy in the garden.

Scorpio Horoscope Flower: Gerbera

Scorpio is the Scorpion sun sign and covers birthdays from October 24th through November 22nd. Gerbera daisies are a popular and cheerful looking flower often used in mixed borders or cottage gardens.

Sagittarius Horoscope Flower: Anemone

The Archer, or Sagittarius sign covers November 23rd through December 21st. Anemone flowers are spring-planted bulbs that bloom in late summer through fall with long-lasting flowers.

Capricorn Horoscope Flower: Chrysanthemum

Capricorn is the Goat sun sign and is for people with birthdays on December 22nd through January 20th. Garden mums grow best in rich, fertile soil and will bloom profusely from mid-fall through until hard winter frosts kill the flowers.
