The English Leander Group Roses

The Leander Group roses often have showier flowers, strong fragrances and glossy foliage and tend to form large, vigorously growing shrubs that do well in most garden situations including some short climbers.

‘Abraham Darby’ – One of the most popular English Roses, this selection has large flowers and dual-colored petals in pink and yellow. The shrub is medium-sized and has strong, slightly arching canes and attractive foliage. Abraham Darcy has a strong fruit and Old Rose fragrance perfect for mixed fragrance gardens.

‘Crown Princess Margareta’ – This Leander Group Rose has beautiful shallow-cup roses that are an apricot-yellow and have a fruity tea rose fragrance. The shrub is a hardy bush with arching canes that grow well against a fence or wall as a short climber or adds a bright spot of color to a mixed border.

‘Strawberry Hill’ – The 2008 Leander Group English Rose introduction, the Strawberry Hill rose is a double rosette flower in a sweet pink color. A tall growing shrub with arching, open growth habit, gardeners can plant this shrub in the back of the border and still enjoy the myrrh-scented flowers with ease.

‘Pat Austin’ – One of the most uniquely colored English Roses, the Pat Austin rose has a copper tinged with apricot-yellow color that adds a brilliant sparkle to the rose garden. The cupped-shaped flowers are scented with a strong tea rose fragrance.

‘The Alnwick Rose’ – A large shrub with medium sized flowers that are rose pink with yellow-tinged centers. The Alnwick Rose is a hardy, disease-resistant rose and has a strong Old Rose and raspberry scented fragrance. The growth is strong and the bush repeat-blooms for months.

‘Lilian Austin’ – This rose has a bright, salmon-pink color that comes from its modern rose parents and has glossy foliage like most in the Leander Group. A modern appearing rose with semi-double flowers that have a rich, fruity fragrance and is disease-resistant.

‘Golden Celebration’ – Some of the largest flowers available in an English Rose, the Golden Celebration has a rich, golden-yellow flower on a medium-large shrub. Full, bushy growth make this shrub a great addition to the flower bed and perennial border with glossy foliage and large leaves that are highly attractive. Very disease-resistant with strong fragrance, Golden Celebration is a popular English Rose.

‘Grace’ – A very beautiful rose with subtly colored flowers that are creamy apricot with pink or yellow tinged petals. Shorter than some of the Leander Group roses, this shrub has wide, arching growth and is constantly producing flowers through the growing season which makes it a nice selection for a container rose.
