The Best Disease Resistant White Climbing Roses

• Rosa ‘Iceberg, Climbing’ – Discovered by Cants of Colchester (United Kingdom, 1968.) Sport of Iceberg, floribunda. Height of 8 to 12 feet. Zone 4b and warmer. Mild fragrance. Good repeat bloom. Do not prune in the spring. It’s best to prune after flowering, because ‘Iceberg’ tends to bloom on old wood from the previous years growth.

• Rosa ‘Moonlight’ – Bred by Rev. Joseph Hardwick Pemberton (United Kingdom, 1913). Creamy white Hybrid Musk with yellow centers. Height of 8 to 10 feet. Zone 6 and warmer. Grows best where it can spread out. Canes are flexible. You can grow it on a pillar, but limit the canes to three. Good repeat bloom.

Growing a Hybrid Musk as a Climber

Hybrid Musks are extremely disease resistant. Blooms are in clusters with good fragrance. They’ll bloom in part shade, but will not have the abundance of flowers, as you would get if planted in full sun. They’re an excellent choice if you need a large shrub roses. There are a few that make wonderful climbers, and are not usually listed for sale under Climbers, but as Hybrid Musks.

How to Grow a Healthy Rose

Growing healthy roses, or for that matter any plant starts with the soil. The use of chemicals should never be used in the place of a good organic fertilizer. For the best results try to fertilize every three to four weeks during the growing season. Any plant that is suffering due to lack of nutrition will always be more susceptible to disease.
