Orange or Yellow Heirloom Tomatoes

Heirloom tomatoes are those tomatoes that are open-pollinated rather than hybrid or genetically modified varieties of tomatoes.

One of the fun things about heirloom tomatoes is the wide variety of shapes and colors they come in. Here are several tomatoes that are orange or yellow colored and have less acid in them than the typical red tomatoes. These old-fashioned, unique colored tomatoes are perfect for someone suffering from ulcers who doesn’t want to give up on that delicious, home-grown tomato taste!

All the orange or yellow heirloom tomatoes listed are indeterminate unless otherwise stated and the days to maturity are given from the time of transplanting.

Amana Orange Tomato – 75-80 days. Large, 1 pound fruits are packed with flavor. Deep orange colored beefsteaks that are an heirloom tomato from Amana, Iowa.

Dad’s Sunset – 90-100 days. Considered ‚”the prefect orange tomato” this heirloom plant won ‚”Best Tasting Tomato at the 2004 Heirloom Tomato Contest. Uniform, 10 oz tomatoes.

Dr. Wyche’s Yellow – 80 days. This heirloom was first introduced by the owner of Cole Brother’s Circus and is a popular choice for it’s heavy yields, exotic taste and large 1lb orange fruits.

Golden Jubilee – 70-80 days. A favorite heirloom tomato plant with good tomato size and yields. The sweet, mild-tasting orange tomato also store well.

Golden Sunray – 80 days. This golden tomato plant produces uniform, sweet and tart tasting tomatoes that are perfect for eating fresh or in salsa. Fruit size between 8-10 ounces.

Kellogg’s Breakfast Tomato – 80-90 days. An orange heirloom from West Virginia carefully preserved because of the sweet, delicious taste. This heirloom tomato plant produces giant beefsteak tomatoes great to eat fresh or sliced.

Kentucky Beefsteak – 80 days. A golden orange heirloom from Kentucky this tomato produces huge 2 lb fruits with a sweet, old-fashioned tomato taste. Great beefsteak tomatoes.

Orange King – 55 days. An early, bright-orange slicing tomato this heirloom sets fruit in both low or high temperature. A determinate tomato plant – no staking required. Expect Orange King tomatoes to weight ® lb. or more!

Patio Orange – 65 days. A great early tomato that grows on a compact plant with high yields great for containers or small garden spaces. Tomatoes are 2-4oz salad tomatoes, bright orange with a tangy taste. These heirlooms have great disease resistance as well.

Sweet Orange – 65-70 days. This heirloom tomato has good crack resistance and produces a large amount of sweet, cherry tomatoes. A vining tomato plants with high yields.

Tangella Tomato – 65 days. Originally from Sutton’s England, this tomato plant boasts medium sized, intensely flavored fruit. The English heirloom tomato plants produce tangerine-colored tomatoes full of flavor.

Yellow Brandywine Tomato – 80-95 days. A golden heirloom variety with flavorful, large fruits. This heirloom tomato plant is sturdy and produces high fruit yields good for canning, paste or eating fresh.
